The purest and very white meerschaum in the world is mined in Eskisehir/ Turkiye.It is also the most suitable meerschaum for shopping.In the nature , It exist in different sizes as spherical in other masses It floats on the water since it is soft when it is first mined, it feels like a soap it becomes harder ,Therefore, it is named as * White GOLD * 17 th. century. It is mined in the east of Eskisehir .That is 20-25 km. far from the city center.

Mineral
Meerschaum , Mg2Si3O8. 2H2O, is a clay mineral which belongs to the Sepiolite group.Sepiolite is currently used in more than 100 different ways in industry.Several deposits of Meerschaum have been reported in Turkey. The deposits in Eskisehir province are considered to be most important commercially.They occur in conglomerates as nodules and in stratified detrital limestone.
